Crown Molding Painting Applications

If you desire to install or re-paint the crown molding in your homes interior give us a call and set up for free design consultation.  San Diego Paint Pros has a set process for painting/ installing crown molding.  We put customer satisfaction as our number one priority and will provide a quality service at a very competivie price.

Installation: San Diego Paint Pros recommends to paint the ceiling and walls before installing crown molding to prevent paint transfer. Our crown molding specialist installs the molding with nails additionally to undustrial strength adhesive to ensure no pealing occurs in the future.  If the crown molding is less then 2 ½ inches and an industrial strength adhesive is applied for secured placement.  If the molding needs to be fitted at a corner, we cut both sides at a 45-degree angle – when meeting at an inside corner, the bottom of the crown molding should be longer, and on a corner that sticks out, the top should be longer.

Painting: Pre-primed crown molding can be purchased upon customer request, otherwise priming is necessary. Once the primer is applied, our painters sand down the crown molding for a smooth finish. During the preparation staged of production, our painters place blue tape above and below the crown molding, and place drop cloths.  Our next step is to paint on the first layer of desired color. Our painters recommend using an angle sash brush because it works best for getting in the creases and also for the areas surrounding the crown molding.  Our interior paint crew will apply the second layer of paint to ensure all edges met and uniformity of coat is established and let dry. Lastly we caulk around the edges and when it’s almost dry, peel off the tape.
