Door Frame PaintingTo prepare for this task, it may be easier to remove the hinges; however, if you choose not too, our painters rub Vaseline on each one; paint can be removed by wiping it off with a rag. We know the tricks of the trade! Our painters also make sure the doorframes are clean and sanded down before priming and painting them. If there are any holes or dents, we use wood putty to even it out; when dried, we sand these areas as well. Align blue tape around the frame to ensure perfection. Once this preparation is finished, our painters apply a thin strip of paintable caulk where wood meets wood; this will be where the doorstop meets the door lining. When dry, we paint the first coat of primer; sand it down and paint the second coat; sand again once dry. Finally, San Diego Paint Pros painters apply the first coat of paint. We start from the top and work our way down, then apply the second coat once the first one has dried.
