San Diego Staircase Painting Services
If your staircase has chipped paint, outdated coloring, or doesn't have the gloss you desire then it is time to call San Diego Paint Pros. Our staircase painting service in San Diego, is offered at very competitive prices with excellent quality production. With any paint job, we will be sure to clean and dust the staircase along with the balusters or staircase posts. Our interior crew is very clean and will lay down a drop cloth to collect unnecessary splatter and remnants on the outside of the staircase. We recommend choosing a couple kinds of paint, depending if the balusters will differ from the handrail; varnish is a popular look because of its glossy finish. If the staircase is already painted, our painters will scrape off the old paint on the steps and handrail with a small scraper. We fill in knicks and holes with wood putty or pollyfiller and sand the railing down until its smooth. Then we begin with the handrail or banister. If the balusters are a different color, we will be sure wrap them with drop cloth and secure with blue tape at the top and bottom.
Our production manager trains our interior paint crew to apply the undercoat with a 2-inch paintbrush or foam roller so the gloss does not sink into the wood. When painting railing we start at the top and work our way down. The painters are very careful not to reach over the staircase railing! That’s why we use a ladder instead to get the outside of the staircase if the dimensions call for it. Once dry, we apply up to three coats of varnish or desired paint. San Diego Paint Pros leave the balusters for last and continue onto the stairs. We train to start at the top and coat with a primer. Once dry, our painters paint every other stair so we can go back and do another coat without smudging the alternating steps. After two to three coats have been applied and dried, our painters will place cardboard or a protective barrior on these steps so they can be family-friendly. We paint the unfinished steps just the same as the ones before. Finally, we reveal the balusters and paint them with desired color or leave as is depending on your selected preferences at the design consultation.
